The distance problem, and what removes it
Texas is large enough that geography is a clinical issue. A person in Del Rio, Alpine, Childress or anywhere along the Permian is not choosing between two therapists. They are choosing between a long drive and nothing. The same is true inside the metros for different reasons: a session in central Houston can cost ninety minutes of traffic on either side of the hour.
Telehealth is the whole practice here, not an accommodation. Sessions run by secure video, so what you need is a private room and a connection that holds. Sessions can happen from a house, a parked truck, a spare office, or a barracks room with the door shut. None of it needs apologizing for.

I live hours from the nearest city. Does telehealth actually work out here?
Yes. Sessions happen by secure video, so the deciding factor is a private space and a connection that holds, not the drive. In much of West Texas and the Panhandle the drive was always the reason care stopped. Removing it is most of the work.
I am moving from one Texas post to another. Do I have to start over?
No. A move inside Texas does not change anything about the license or the sessions. A move out of Texas does, because the license is tied to your physical location at the time of session. If that happens you will get help planning the transfer rather than a sudden stop.
