QUESTIONS

Straight answers, before you book.

The practical questions people ask before a first appointment, answered without the runaround.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

No. Raven Counseling Services is fully telehealth. Sessions happen over secure video, and you need to be physically located in Texas, Maryland or Massachusetts at the time of your appointment, because those are the states where Zandria Hooks holds a clinical social work licence. Where you live matters less than where you are sitting during the session.

What are your credentials?

Zandria Hooks is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), holding Texas licence #107245 along with licences in Maryland and Massachusetts. She is EMDR trained and CPT certified. She is prior active duty and currently serves in the National Guard as a mental health provider. She is not a physician or a prescriber, so medication is handled by your prescriber, and she can coordinate with them where that is useful.

What does a session cost?

Individual telehealth sessions are $150 for private pay. There is no sliding scale. The initial 15-minute consult is free. Payment is handled outside the website, and there is no online payment widget here.

Do you take insurance?

Yes. Accepted plans include Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Horizon BCBS of New Jersey, Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic, Ascension SmartHealth (TX and MD), Independence Blue Cross PA Virtual (MD and TX), Cigna, Carelon Behavioral Health, Aetna, Oscar through Optum (TX and MD), and Providence Health Plan (TX and MD). Employee assistance programmes are accepted too, including Military OneSource and CuraLinc. Booking through Headway verifies your benefits as part of the process, and the insurance and EAP page has the detail.

What is your cancellation policy?

Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours of notice, or missed without notice, are charged. The reason is simple: that hour was held for you and cannot be filled at short notice. Give as much warning as you can and rescheduling is usually straightforward.

What do you actually treat?

Trauma and post-traumatic stress are the primary focus, alongside anxiety, depression, insomnia and life transitions. Populations include adults generally, with a particular focus on veterans, active duty service members, Guard and Reserve, first responders, military families and people recovering from car accidents.

Is there anything you do not treat?

Yes, and it is better to say so up front. Zandria is not currently trained in treating OCD and will refer out rather than deliver care she is not the right person to deliver. The same applies to anything else outside her scope or requiring a higher level of care. Fit is discussed honestly in the consult.

How long does therapy take?

It depends on what you are working on. Structured protocols such as CPT often run around twelve sessions. Other work is shorter or longer. Progress gets reviewed out loud rather than assumed, so you always know what you are working on and whether it is moving.

Is it confidential?

Yes, within the standard legal and ethical limits: imminent risk of harm to yourself or someone else, suspected abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult, and court orders. Those limits are explained at the start of care. If you have specific concerns related to your employer, command or a clearance, raise them in the consult and you will get a straight answer rather than a comfortable one.

Are there reviews or testimonials?

Not on this site. Client stories are not published here, and no star ratings or success claims are used. What is available is verifiable credentials, licence numbers and a clear description of the approach, which you can read on the credentials page.
